You doing this for the school paper? Seems like you hit all the high spots and got everything anyone would want to know.
I just recently started doing this so don't be to critical. haha But here is my take on today's game. All suggestions are appreciated.
Errors play huge role in Cavs loss to Buffs.
Milligan (21-23/7-9 AAC) used timely home runs by Drew Anders and Dallas Crouch to down UVa-Wise (22-19/8-8 AAC) 9-3 in Appalachian Athletic Conference play Monday. The win completed the sweep as the Buffaloes defeated the Cavaliers 8-5 Saturday, before game two was rained out.
Despite matching the Buffaloes in hits the Cavaliers could only push across three runs. Brad Austin, Jorge Laboy, and Matt Duffy all struck for two hits a piece while left fielder Josh Verts knocked in two runs on the day.
The game started off sour for the Cavaliers as the Buffs were able to push across a run in the first inning without a single hit thanks to an error. Drew Anders would make plate the second run of the day for Milligan with his solo home run in the top of the second. The game would remain 2-0 until the 5th inning where Milligan would strike for 7 runs. Again, an error would aid the Milligan cause. With a chance to get out of the inning on a possible double play ball UVa-Wise was unable to make the play. Later, in that inning Dallas Crouch stepped to the plate and put the game out of reach for good by lining a grand slam homerun to cap off the 7 run inning.
UVa-Wise would try to make a late comeback as Josh Verts hit a long two run home run to left center field in the 6th inning. The Cavaliers would also do damage in the 7th and final frame. The Cavaliers received a lead off infield single from pinch hitter Matt Hall and two batters later Mike Lang lined an opposite field hit, the next batter Brad Austin hit a line drive off first baseman Justin Motte's glove which would load the bases. Jorge Laboy would then drive in Hall from third base with a sacrifice fly to deep center to conclude the scoring for the final 9-3 margin.
UVa-Wise will be back in action Wednesday with a double header at home beginning at 4:30 against Alice Lloyd.

"There he goes, one of Gods own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die"
I just do it mainly for kicks. I'll probably get some extra credit in my sports marketing class. The current sports editor of the school newspaper is graduating, I'm considering applying. As far as I know I have a position assisting our Sports Information Director this summer.

It's not bad. Good job.

I wish more people would put this much effort into their posts, especially during football season. This is pretty cool to say the least, and speaks a lot for your desire to be a sports writer.
